07/01/10 Results from the HPA for Legionella infections in December 2009
Thirty three cases were reported with pneumonia and one was reported with non pneumonic infection, these cases comprised 24 males aged 33-85 and 10 females aged 53-81. 14 cases had community aquired infection and 2 cases aquired in hospital, 2 deaths were reported in females aged 53-81 years old.
18 cases were travel associated France/Italy/Switzerland (1), Greece (2), Italy (2), Portugal (1), Spain (1), Sri Lanka (1), Turkey (2) and UK (7).
